YE FANCYE FAYRE.
The Old English Fancy Fayre was continued on Saturday evening, at McFarlane’s Hall for the last time. There was a grand and fashionable attendane of ladies and gentlemen of the general public, and the whole arrangements have proved a n unqualified success, considering the number of other attractions during the week. Wc may state that in proportion to the population of Gisborne and its surrounding neighborhood, the “ Fayre ” has been equal, if not better, than that which took place a short time ago at Napier. We may state that the Fayre has realised the very handsome sum of £320. Of course there are expenses to be deducted from this amount, but we are of opinion that the Committee of Management should feel thoroughly satisfied with the results of “Yc Olde Englishe Fayre.” The greatest credit is due to the Committee, especially the Rev. Me Ara, Messrs W. Adair, Quigley, Somervell, 'feat, Warren, and other gentlemen who have worked so well, and with so much energy for this very deserving object. We are of opinion that the Fayre might have been continued fur at the very least one or two more nights Wc hope that every one who has patronised the Fayre although spending a little money bare enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The Artillery band and Mr MacFarlane’s string barn! were perfect in their music, and deserve credit for their performance of the selections^Hotted to them. The hope that wherever the Fayre brings up they will meet with the same success as it has at Gisborne. The Fayre throughout has been attended to by the indefatigable artist Mr C. Briggs. Wherever he goes have our hearty best wishes.
