PARASITES IN THE BRAIN JHQM SATING TORS-

At the inquest, at Wanganui, on the body of Charles Frederick Boes, a carter, who died from the effects of a blow administered by a fellow carter named Richard Thomas, now in custody on a charge of murder, Dr Tripe produced hydatids found abnormal in the brain of the deceased. These had probably originated from eating raw or improperly cooked pork, and he would advise people to be very careful what kind of nori they eat. Had Boes not thus died, these parasites would have caused his death at some time or other ; they had, however, in the meantime nothing to do with his decease, although their presence would render a man very irritable, and in time drive him mad. His death was caused by a blow on the head given him when he so rushed at Thomas in an exciteable manner, that the hydatids might have been the cause of death. A local paper says: “In connection with these remarks made by Dr. Tripe, we hare ascertained that the deceased was in the habit of eating raw pork ham, which will account for the presence of the hydatids.”

The sale of sections at Newtown, by Messrs Graham, Pitt snd Bennett, to-day, was not successful, as only seven were sold, Mr J. Harries purchasing three haring a frontage to Aberdeen-read, at £25 each, and Mr W. J. Nolan four fronting Cook-street, at £2O each. In both eases the upset price only was realised. The others to hare been offered were withdrawn.
