TRUST COMMISSIONER’S COURT.
This Day. (Before M. Price, Esq., Trust Commissioner.) THE WHATAUPOKO BLOCK. The application of M. J. Gannon, Andrew Graham, and Kate Gannon, to resist the certification of a certain portion of this block, comprising in all about 12,400 acres, to Wm. Rees, Wi Pere, and Riperata Kakutia, on behalf of the New Zealand Native Lands Settlement Company, came before Mr Price this morning. Mr Brassey, with Mr Robinson, appeared for the appellants, and Mr Rees for the Company. After some discussion between counsel the case was adjourned until Monday next. MatawheroNo. 1. Mr Ward appeared for Read's Trustees, and Mr Kenny for the appeilant, Mr T. J. Goldsmith. Mr Kenny addressed the Trust Commissioner, putting in the deed and application of Mr Goldsmith, Mr Ward opposing it as contrary to equity and good conscience, inasmuch as it had already been conveyed to the Trustees of the Estate of the late G. E. Read by the Native owners thereof, the deeds of which conveyance he now produced, also an order of the Court vesting the freehold of the whole block, excepting 100 belonging to Wi Haronga, in the said Trustees
