The Waitemata County Council have decided upon borrowing £lO,OOO under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act. The Postmaster here compulsorily registered all letters addressed to Zoo Jumbo and Ada Mantua. These parties, fearing prosecution under the Gaming and Lotteries Act, refused to take delivery, and in one week alone unclaimed letters containing £3OOO were sent to the dead letter office from Auckland. KUMAR A, This Day. Mr Seddon, M.H.R., addressed a large meeting of electors at Dilmanstown last evening, reviewing his actions at the late session of Parliament. A vote of thanks and confidence was unanimously carried. After his address W. Morris, on behalf of the miners of Kumara and Stafford Town, took the opportunity of presenting him with a gold watch as a mark of esteem and appreciation of his services on their behalf in the N.Z. Parliament.
