COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.

An adjourned meeting of the above Council was held at 2 o’clock this afternoon, Present—Crs. Johnson, Allanach, Weston, Milner, and Clarke. A letter was read from Mr Matthews, of the Bank of New Zealand, relative to their overdraft, and asking that it might be reduced. The Chairman suggested that Mr Matthews should be informed that the £lBOO to be received from the Government would be devoted to that purpose. The Secretary stated that an election was to be held on the 30th for the election of a Native Assessor for Tologa Bay. Cr. Milner mentioned that there should be more than one polling booth, and more than one Returning Officer. It was stated in reply that the Council had no control. The question of the boundary of the County being increased so as to take in certain roads recently formed by the Government, when it was eventually decided to take all the property within the boundary mentioned. The consideration of the new Roads and Bridges Act was being discussed when our reporter left.
