The damage is estimated at £109,000. The trial of another of the prisoners concerned in the murder of the Joyce family at ! Maantrasna, County (ialway, in August last, ' was concluded to day. A verdict of guilty : was returned by the jury, and sentence of death was passed upon the prisoner. A report is current here to-day that the ; cargo of frozen mutton per steamship Marsala. which left Dunedin on the 22nd September last, was jettisoned near Java, owing to the refrigerating machinery having broken down. Nov. IS. | Sir Stafford Northcote started to-day on a health cruise to the south of Europe. He i is expected to be absent from England for two months. Consols have declined and are now down i to 102. ' The total quantity of wheat afloat for i Great Britain is 2,120,000 quarters. j There are no changes to report in the Colonial 1 I produce markets. ‘ The market rate of discount has been ' raised by \to 3y. The bank rate remains at i 5 per cent. Consols, are unchanged, at 102. William Macarthur (Lord Mayor of London , in 1880-81) and Mr Thomas Mcllwraith (the !
