(BY CABLE.—REUTER’S TELEGRAMS). SYDNEY, This Day. The half-yearly statement of the Bank of New' South Wales was published yesterday. The Directors in their report estimate the net profits for the period at £BB,OOO, and recommend the payment of a dividend and bonus amouuting to 17& per cent. In the Legislative Assembly last night the hon. James Watson introduced the Financial Statement; after referring to the increasing prosperity of the Colony he stated that the revenue *or the past year amounted to 7,760,914, and that there was a surplus of £1,827,695. The estimated revenue for next year is £7,356,200, with a credit balance of £580,351. It is proposed to remit a number of specific duties on household requisites aud manufacturers’ materials. Further railway construction to the extent of 700 miles will be proposed, besides various extensions of the tramway system. It will not be necessary, as was supposed, to float another loan at the end of next year. The Treasurer concluded by stating that the revenue for 1882 23 may probably reach eight millions.
MELBOURNE, This Day. Sailed—yesterday afternoon : steamship Wairarapa, for the Bluff. Malting barley firm, at 5s 2d to 5b 4d; wheat, weak, at 6s; N,Z. oats, quiet, at 4k 2d to 4s 4d for feed, and 4s 5s to 4s 6d for milling. Messrs Goldsbrough and Co., Limited, during the recent wool auctions have sold 5317 bales out of 7177 cataloged. There has been a large attendance of fofc/ws, and brisk competition throughout.
