Sir William Macarthur, M.L.C., of New South Wales, aged 82, and also of Mr WilHam Forster, lately Agent-General for N.S.W. in London, aged 64. October 29. |The steam collier Womara, 226 tons, owned by Bulli Coal Mining Company, while on a voyage from Bulli to Sydney, coal laden, foundered last night, off Botany heads. Officers and crew to the number of thirteen including Captain, were drowned ; one seaman saved.

This day. Tho steamship Wimmera was insured for £7,000 in the Australasian Alliance Company. There was only ono survivor from the wreck. MELBOURNE, This Day. Arrived: Orient Company’s s.s. Austral, from Plymouth, Sept. 16. An exciting scene occurred yesterday in Hobson’s Bay, on board the Norwegian barque Thor, 1106 tons, about to sail for Malden Island. Five deserters had been brought on board as tho vessel was on the point of leaving, when they all jumped overboard. One narrowly escaped being drowned before lie was rescued. The Water Police ultimately captured others and took ihem on board again, whereupon the whole of tho vast of the crew refused to work. The vessel is therefore still detained.
