Another literary venture; The first number of Mr Joseph Mackay's new paper, the “Southern Free Press” is to hand. It is published simultaneously at Wyndham, Mataura Bridge, Gore and Invercargill. Mr McKellar, squatter paid £45 for a special train from Ballarat to Hamilton in order to return home after attending the funeral of a jockey killeed while riding one of his horses at Ballarat.
