The Waerenga-a-hika race-course is being vastly improved as the track has been rolled, and is now almost all that could be desired in addition to various alterations which we have previously described. Mr T. E. R. Bloomfield has purchased the well-known mure Hatred with her Musket foal, and also the Hero—Rangi colt, two years old, from Mr A. McDonald. Aconite, owned by Mr A. McDonald, is expected to foal in a few days to Foul Play. The well-known stallion Foul Play will stand the coming season in Poverty Bay. We learn he is to be shown at the Agricultural Show. The following sensational wagers were recently booked in Melbourne on the Cup and Derby ; —Mr D. Wallace accepted £lO.OOO to £5OO about his colt Calma for the V.R.C. Derby, and Mr W.
