Cheriff Pasha, president of the’Ministry has urged fresh objections to allowing Arabi and his fellow prisoners the services of English counsel on their trial; the matter is again under discussion between the Egyptian Government and Sir E. B. Malet, British Consul-General, and pending the decision the joint trial (which was fixed for to-day has been further postponed. LONDON, Oct. 17. News is to hand from Dublin that the sentry ou guard outside the city barracks was shot dead at his post last night. The assassin made off and no clue to his whereabouts has yet been obtained. The “Times” to-day states that unless the Egyptian Goverment agree to accord to Arabi Pasha a fair trial, and allow him the services of English counsel, the British Government wifi demand that Arabi should be handed over to the custody of the British authorities in Egypt. A portion of the cargo of frozen meat shipped at Melbourne, per Chimborazo, consisting of 1,890 carcases of sheep, have been examined, and found to be in excellent condition.
