As the schooner Julius Vogel, Captain Foreman, was being towed out of the river yesterday, from the wharf, by the s.s. Rosina, the latter only succeeded in towing the schooner a short distance when the piston rod of the of Rosina snapped, and the schooner had to be taken alongside the wharf, where she now lies waiting for a fair wind. She will leave for D’Urville s Island on the first opportunity. The s.s. Oreti left for Napier at 9.30 yesterday morning. She will not call here on her return trip north, but will go direct to Auckland. The vessel may be expected here from North on Saturday next. The Union Company’s Te Anau arrived at the Spit yesterday morning, at 6 o’clock. The Union Company’s Southern Cross, Captain Bernech, is expected to clear out of the Bay this evening, about 5 o’clock.
