CABLEGRAMS.
BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.—(COPYRIGHT.) [reuter's telegrams]. Received Sept. 28, 8 p.m. ALEXANDRIA, Sept. 26. In consequence of the opinion expressed by Sir Garnet Wolseley chat a force of 10,000 British troops will now.be sufficientto(ensure maintenance of order in this country, orders have have been issued for the immediate reembarkation of three battalions of the Indian Contingent. The remaining battalions will return to their respective stations shortly. Received Sept. 29, 1.10 a.m. ALEXANDRIA, Sept. 27. Courts martial have been appointed by the Khedive, to hold sittings at Cairo and this city, to try cases which may be submitted by special commission of Europeans and Native Officers appointed to prosecute those who were guilty of outrages against Europeans during the rebe’Hon. An edict will shortly be issued by the Khedive granting an amnesty to officers below the rank of colonel, who fought under Arabi. CONSTANTINOPLE, Sept. 27. Baker Pasha sailed to-day for Egypt to undertake the re-organisation of the Egyptian Army, and departed without the consent of the Sultan. Received Sept. 29, 2.20 p.m. ALEXANDRIA, Sept. 28. Sir Garnet Wolseley will remain in Egypt for another fortnight, but at the expiration of that time will return to England. CONSTANTINOPLE, Sept. 27. The Porte has addressed a note to Earl Dufferin, British Ambassador, thanking England for restoring order in Egypt, and expressing hope that a close friendship of England and Turkey will continue. LONDON, Sept. 27. The cargo of frozen mutton, ex Thalamia, has been found to be in good order, and quite equal in condition to Dunedin’s shipment. Mutton carcases were sold to-day at from s|d to 6d per pound. The London meat market is at present overstocked.
