Sir George Whitmore arrived by the Omapere this morning. We may now lie able to learn whether the Volunteers are to have a gun or not. We know that both Sir George and Mr McDonald took great interest in the matter while Parliament was in session, and there may be some chance yet of our getting it. From information we have received, and for which we are really thankful, it becomes our pleasing duty to convey the information that Mr F.
