Atalanta has been one of the most successful performers on the New Ze iland Turf. At 4 years old won the Oamaru J.C. Handicap, and ran second to Glengarry in the Dunedin J. C. Handicap ; at 5 yrs., won the Free Hup. at Christchurch ; at Timaru won South Cun terbury J.C. Handicap, Tradesman’s Handicap, and Forced Handicap ; at 6 years won a number of races including Handicap at Dunstan. At the sale of Mr Delamuine’s stud, 13th November, 1877, she brought 250 guineas. PARTHENOPCEUS, a Dark Bay, rising 7 years old, is a splendid specimen of the Thoroughbred Horse, uniting in a remarkable degree Symmetry with Strength, being admirablya dupted to get weight-carrying Hacks as well as Race Horses. He was sold at the above mentioned sale for 350 guineas. Possessing the celebrated Traducer blood of his sire, and from his dam the blood of the still more celebrated Sir Hercules, he presents a combination of the most fashionable ami successful strains in the Southern Hemisphere. The Auslraluifian in speaking of the Sir Hercules blood remarked : “No family has gained such a reputation as that which descends from the Colonial-bred Sir Hercules. In contests of every description the representatives of this line had achieved more than their share of popular triumph.”
