John Liokey has resigned his portfolio as Minister of Public Works, aud it is rumored that a break-up of the Cabinet is likely to follow, Sir Henry Parkes retiring from his position os Premier. Received Sept. 21 st, at 1.30 p.m. Rumours which were current yesterday regarding the alleged changes in the Ministry, are now declared to be without foundation, or at least premature. Received September 21st, 1 a.m. MELBOURNE, Sept. 20. O’Farrell, who attempted to assassinate Archbishop Gould by shooting him with a revolver on tho 20th ult., and who was committed for trial on the 2nd inst., wae brought up at the Supreme Court to-day, and woa hmnd Guilty on a charge ei unlawfully
wounding, and sentenced to two years’ imprisonment in Melbourne Gaol. MELBOURNE, This Day. The Government has called upon Dr Barker to resign his appointment on the \ ictorian Medical Board. Dr Barker has given a categorial denial to the statements that he attempted to procure an abortion in the ease of the late Mrs Stent, and demands a full enquiry into the charge.
