FOOTBALL.
(by telegraph.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The weather is fine for the football match between Wanganui and Sydney, which commences at two o’clock this afternoon. The Australians arc the favorites. The Football Match, Sydney v. Wellington, on Saturday, was won by Sydney, 14 points (two goals, two tries), to Wellington one try (two points). There was splendid weather, and tho attendance was very -large. The play of the Sydney men was greatly admired. They were entertained at dinner in the evening, and on Sunday morning a £pe-‘ > cial train was put on to take the visitors to Wairarapa. The Wanganui Team play •Sydney tn-day. The football match Wanganui v. Sydney, two spells, 40 minutes each ; the first spell Wanganui scored a try, but was disallowed on account of the second man touching. AUCKLAND, This Day. In the Football Match against Tauranga Auckland won by seven points to nothing.
