(PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION). DUNEDIN, This Day. Herman Price, photographer, died suddenly at his lodgings on Saturday. Death is supposed to have been caused from an overdose of chlorodyne. The name of the photographer who was poisoned was Herman Bruce. The verdict was, “ poisoned by chloral, but no evidence to show how it was administered. AUCKLAND, This day. The £3O worth of jewellery, etc., stolen by Marsh has been recovered at the Thames from a pawnshop and private persons to whom the articles had been sold, and the £lO stolen from R. Browning, the solictor’s residence yesterday. A cabdriver named Ritchie, injured on Saturday, and Bird, who was run over by a loaded cart, are likely to recover. The wife of Marsh, the burglar, hashauded over to the police a quantity of silver plate which has been identified as stolen. THAMES, This Day. In conseouence of Mr Bryce’s action re Thames Volunteer Contingent at Parihaka, he had his effigy burnt on Saturday night. WELLINGTON, This day. The bunting on the vessels in harbour, and on the principal business places were displayed in honor of the victory over Arabi. The Government have cabled to the Agent General to cable the extent of the damage to the New Zealand mails by fire on board the Alaska. A Nelson digger of respectable appearance, was found dead in bed at Trover’s Accommodation House, on the West Coast road. The man reached Trover’s place on Monday, and complained of headache. He stated he oame from Woodstock, and previously from Dunedin. At the inquest a verdict was returned of “ died by the visitation of God.” THAMES, This Day, John Bryce’s effigy was burnt with much enthusiasm on Saturday night by the Purihaka contingent, NAPIER, This Day. On Saturday night an oilman’s store belonging to D. Sinclair, situated at the corner of Clive Square, was destroyed by fire, as well as a small dwelling-house attached. The insurances on the building is £l5O in the Union, and the stock £125 in the National. Sinclair’s loss is estimated at £2OO.
