THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST.
Ix the thirteenth chapter of the Book of Revelation the last verse is thus written :— “ Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is six hundred three score and six.” A theological Scotchman has pondered this matter, and has discovered the man whose number is the number of the beast. Every letter in the Greek alphabet represents a number, and a simple addition sum may be made out of the following name :— G 3 1 30 a 1 d 4 s ... ... 200 t 300 (short) o 70 n 50 (long) e 8 Gladstone 666 There can be no mistake that the unhappy Premier’s name is the number of the beast. By referring to a Greek grammar anyone may satisfy himself of the entire accuracy of the above figures. Mr Gladstone is himself a student of theology and of Greek.
