Atalahta has been one of the most successful performers on the New Zealand Turf. At 4 years old won the Oamaru J.C. Handicap, and ran second to Glengarry in the Dunedin J. C. Handicap; at 5 yrs., won the Free Hep. at Christchurch : at Timaru won South Can terbury J.C. Handicap, Tradesman's Handicap, and Forced Handicap ; at 6 years won a number of races including Handicap at Dunstan. At the sale of Mr Delamaino's stud, 13th November, 1877, she brought 250 guineas. He made his first appearance in Wellington, where he started a 2A mile race, weight for age, beating Whitefoot, Gazelle, and others. Then went to Napier, where he was beaten by Never Miss by a head, New Chum carrying 211bs over, Never Mias beating Lady Grey and others.
