The steamer Murray, from Nelson, in trying to enter the river yesterday afternoon got ashore on the north spit. The sea was tolerably heavy, and the steamer got into an awkward position on the beach, behind the protective works, and it is extremely doubtful if she will be able to get off without being launched over the sand-bank into the river. The steamer Kennedy was ready in the roadstead to enter the river after the Murray, but seeing the latter Steamer's mishap, she remained in the offing.
