COMMERCIAL.
LONDON SEED TRADE.
Messrs. John Shaw and Sons, of 37 Mark Lane, London, E.C., report through their agent, Mr Leonard W. Blake/'Of Christchurch, that there was no business, of importance passiag in the seed market during the month ending 13th July. American letters continued to speak very gravely of the jwospects of red clover seed there, and more particularly so in the important sale of Michigan, where the result, it is feared, will prove only one-fifth of a crop. This, coupled with the unusually small stocks in the market, has caused quotations ail round to exhibit extreme firmness. There was no change in either mustard or rape seed, but new home grown samples of the latter were being offered. Canary seed was firm at the late advance.
