[Reuter’s Telegrams.] MELBOURNE. August 26. Burns, who was remanded to Hamilton, charged with the murder- of Michael Quiiuiven in 1880, has been brought up for trial, and has been further remanded. SYDNEY. Aug. 27. The steamship Gunga arrived from Fiji today, and has been quarantined. Sir Arthur Gordon’s Native attendant, who is a passenger, is suffering from what is believed to be smallpox. Sir Arthur Gordon is also a passenger by the Gunga. This Day. Arrived, last evening, Rotomahana, from Auckland. Doctors are still undecided whether the case of sickness on the Gunga is small-pox. She will, however, be detained in quarantine for several days.
