Sting 1 Masquerade 2 Britisher 3 —Twenty horses faced the starter for this event, and after a splendid race Sting came to the front and won a grand race in 2mins. 362 secs., the fastest time yet on record. The winner was loudly cheered on returning from the scales. Hawkesbury Club Handicap. Kingsworth ... ... ... ... 1 Savanaka 2 Hypatia ... ... 3 —A splendid race. (From Exchanges.) Mr Powdrell's Hailstorm, the winner of the Wanganui Cup, will not be raced this season, A New Zealand bookmaker has backed Cunnamulla in Dunedin for the Melbourne Cup lately for about £lOOO, getting the mopey on at prices ranging front 100 to 2 to 100 to 3. Segenhoe has advanced a point for the V.R.C. Derby, he having been backed to win about £3OOO at 4 to 1, and the best offer now is 3 to 1. Inquiries have been made about Navigator, against whom 6 to 1 is now the prevailing price. Bassanio, Prometheus, and Saionara have friends at 10 to 1 each. A commission in favour of Ironmaster, was lately effected, Messrs Miller and O’Brien and Jones laying 500 Q to 3QQ, and 15,000 to 110 against the son of Tuual Cain winning the Derby and Cup.
