DEPARTURES. AUGUST. 24th.—Energy, brigantine. Captain Mo&em, from Newcastle, with 300 tons of coal. The s.s. Oreti arrived in Auckland to-day, at 6 a.m. The Union Co.'s Ringarooma left Auckland at noon to-day. The s.s. Rosina left to-day at about 11 o'clock, for I’otae, with general stores. She will return shortly with a cargo of posts. The U.S.S. Company's Ringarcoma will arrive here to-morrow, from Sydney 'ia Auckland; and the Te Anau fsom Melbourne via Southern Ports, on Sunday. The brigantine Energy arrived in the Bay this morning, from Newcastle, N.S.W., with :»00 tons of coal consigned to Messrs Kennedy and Bennett. She experienced bad weather along the coast. The schooner “Waiirera” damaged.. The schooner “ Waiwera ” has been seriously damaged. Her keel has been wrenched out of her, and the lower portion of the vessel much damaged. The Union Company's Beautiful Star stranded on the north spit when leaving We.- tport at 4 o ckck this morning. The weather was stormy ami the sea heavy. Partic liars of the accident not yet obtainable. The steamer will most likely get off at high tide. Steamers and sailing vessels of greater draught than the Beautiful Star went out yesterday. I A TEST. The Captain of the Beautiful Star signalled, “Grounded on shoal at 5 a.m. Want immediate assistance. Have two anchors out astern. Discharging cargo (coal). May be got off if prompt assistance is rendered by the next tide. Not making water. The Southern Cross will maxe an attempt to tow the steamer off this afternoon if a sufficiently strong hawser can be found. No further communication then the above stated has yet been held with the Star. The “Aia 0. Own” also ashore. The “ Ada C. Owen ” is still ashore on the Spit. Every effort is being made to get her off, the dead neap tides being against the success of the work. The vessel lies in “staths" (sic) between the main beach and the sea, and is not likely to be floated before spring Eides. She is insured in the North British, and owned n Auckland. LATE It. The Ada C. Owen is apparently uninjured. Men ire working at her fifty-six hours at a stretch without rest.
