GENERAL IGNATIEFF’S DISGRACE.
It appears that one effect of General Ignatieff’s disgrace has been the reconciliation of the Czar with the Grand Duke Constantine, who has been encouraged to return to St. Petersburg!!. Count Tolstoi, the new Minister of the Interior, seems determined to make his influence felt among those who have been persecuting the Jews, for he has recently empathioally declared his intention of making the local officials immediately responsible for any further violence against the Jews, and of openly accusing them of being to a cettain degree the cause of recent disorders. The circular is couched in a most decisive language, and fully corroborates the general opinion that the present Minister is a man of order, and will set himself most energetically against the least sign of weakness on the part of the local authorities to maintain the public peace.
