By some sadden move, ment, however, he dropped his silver pencil-case, which wont straight down on to the table where the guests were enjoying themselves, and fell plump into a tureen of soup, close to the elbow of the Duke of Edinburgh, with a loud splash. There was some little commotion at the time, but no further notice was taken of the matter and the soup was in due course soon afterwards removed.
