[Reuter’s Special.] LONDON. August 11. It is now definitely known that both Houses of the Imperial Parliament will adjourn on Friday next until some date towards the end of October, when the Houses will meet again. _ The only business to be dealt with will be the Government proposals for reform of Parliamentary proceedings, the discussion of which was suspended in June.
The last portion of the cargo of the Orient Steamship Lusitania consisting of several carcases of beef, was sold at Smithfield market to-day. The meat was in excellent condition. Hindquarters realised 6|d to 6-J-d per lb., and fore-quarters sjd tos_|d per lb. Cricket match, Australian v. Players of England, the latter in their Ist innings scored 322. Australians Ist innings 150; Murdoch being top scorer with 35, and Horan 47. The Australians in their second innings scored 83 for 3 wickets; Massie 31. Tho English bowling was dead on the wicket, and the fielding was excellent. August 12.
The Australians in their 2nd innings scored 138. The Players thus won the match by one innings with 34runs to spare. August 13.
News has been received here that the agitation against Christians is spreading through Syria and _in Morocco, and it is feared that fanatical outbreaks of Mahommedans may occur.
Consols remain at par. Market been raised by by 4 to to 2| and is | below bank rate of discount New Zealand securities unchanged. Colonial breadstuffs continue dull, Adelaide flour ex warehouse declined to 80s, a fall of sixpence. Adelaide wheat re. mains 50s, and New Zealand at 49s ex warehouse.
The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 3,2G0,000qr5., an an Increase of 190,000 qrs. since the 15th inst Australian tallow firm, but unchanged in price. Further large withdrawals of gold are being made frotn the Bank of England for Italy. CONSTANTINOPLE. August 13. Lord Dufferin, British Ambassador, has submitted to the Conference a draft of the military convention between the British Government and the Porte for a settlement of the Egyptian trouble. By the terms of the convention the British Govern, ment waives the demand previously made that the Turkish troops, which may be despatched to Egypt, shall be subjected to the British Commander, but insists upon concerted action between the two forces. The Conference has adopted the proposals of the Italian Ambassador that the European Powers should establish collective naval protection over the Suez Canal, but agrees that England shall be free to take any military action that may be deemed necessary to the canal.
ALEXANDRIA. August 13. The Coldstream and Grenadier Guards arrived here to-day. They are however inactive pending the arrival of Sir Garnet Wolseley, who is expected to reach here on Tuesday next.
