Replying to questions put, it was stated the Government would consider the proposal for a reduction of rail, way freight charges for grain, ooal, timber, and stone, Steps were being prosecuted for the Extradition Treaty with the neighboring Colonies, so as to provide for the arrest of absconding debtors. The following Bills were introduced find read the Ist time; — Eyreton Do. main Board Empowering Bill, (Pearson) ; Interpretation Bill, (Tawhai) ; Draining of Mines Bill, (J. C. Brown) ; Auckland Museum Endow, ment Bill, (Rolleston) ; Auckland Improvement Act Amendment Bill, Native Lands Act Amendment Bill, (Bryce). The Otago Harbor Board Further Empowering Bill was read a 3rd time and passed. Mr H. Thompson moved the second reading of the Christchurch District Drainage Bill. Mr Wynn Williams objected. Proceedings were interrupted by the 5.30 adjournment.
