The s.s. Oreti, C’aptain A. Campbell, arrived in the bay at 4 o’clock this morning, with 48 tons of cargo, and two passe n gers { Messrs Kennedy and Austin. She sailed about four o’clock this afternoon for Napier. The sthooners Minnie Hare and Julius A ogel were towed out over the bar by the Noko. The former proceeding to Auckland via the Coast ; the latter to the Bay of Islands to load coal for this port. The Atalanta is expected to leave sometime during to-morrow. The lighters are busily engaged discharging the cargo of the Oreti. ‘ The Union s.s. Co.’s Arawata left Auckland for Gisborne at 10 o’clock to-day. The Hero will not put in here till Wednesday instead of Monday. The schooner Saucy Kate, which was stranded a short time ago at Hicks’ Bay, was moved down to low water mark, but through the heavy seas during last week, she was washed back to her former place.

Besides these there are smaller Armstrong guns on board for boat service. Including officers and men, there are 333 souls on board, the following being a list of the names of the former:— Captain, Kasama; Commander, Arai; chief surgeon, Toyozumi; first lieutenant, Tajiri ; navigating lieutenant, Kashiwahara ; first lieutenant, Arima ; second lieutenants, Neino, Kodama, Uyemura, Nagai, and Endow • surgeon, Suzuki; chief paymaster, Nagai ; chief engineer, Yoshida; sub-lieutenants, Sakamoto, Nagamine, Tamari, Niejima, Yoshida, Yamada, Ekebata, and Yasuoka • secretary, Morl; and 11 midshipmen, 2 non-commissioned officers, 1 assistant surgeon, 3 assistant paymasters, 2 assistant engineers, and 17 cadets.’’
