[Reuteb’s TeLBGBA.IIB.] SYDNEY. July 31. The Australasian Steam Navigation Company has declared a dividend of 8 per cent, for the past year. Tenders for the construction of a dam at the New Prospect Water Works were opened to-day. That of MoGingan, £137,000 was accepted.
MELBOURNE. This day. Arrived: This morning, Orient steamship Chimborazo, from Plymouth.
ALBANY. This day. Arrived : Last evening, P. and 0. Company’s Rome with inward Suez mails, which left London on June 20. She brings the following news from Bombay, dated July 16th. The force which is being organised for despatch to Egypt consists of 1800 European and 5000 Xative troops, together with three batteries of Artillery and transport horses, and 2000 mules. It is understood that the force is intended to hold Suez and Ismalia, and that it will probably be employed in constructing a line of railway along the coast.
