PARLIAMENTARY.
[PEB UNITED MESS ASSOCIATION.] House of Representatives. The whole of last night’s sitting was occupied with discussion as to amendments in Standing Orders. Most of the alterations recommended by the Standing Orders Committee twere agreed to. The order constituting the Waste Lands Committee was altered so as to do away witli the necessity for referring to it all Bills relating to waste lands.
Sir George Grey moved for instruction to the committee to report whether private members could not, without leave of the Crown, introduce Bills affecting waste lands. Also that all cases not provided for by the Standing Orders, should be referred by the Speaker to the decision of the House, and that an order should be made to enable private members to introduce Bills affecting taxation without leave of the Crown. After considerable discussion the first part of Sir George Grey's proposal was withdrawn, and the second part negatived by 36 to 30. A motion to adjourn the debate was lost by 27 to 6, and the third part was negatived on the voices. Tho house rose nt 1.25
