The following has been handed to us by the Directory of the Southern Cross Petroleum Company i-** Giiborne, 27th July, 1882. Proprietors of the Canterbury “ Times,” Christchurch. The Directors of the Southern Cross Petroleum Company request me to ask you to kindly furnish the name and address of the writer of the letter signed “ Fair Play,” dated from this place. It is their intention to institute legal proceedings. F. J. Piesbe, Manager. F. J.
