[united press association.] CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. Exhibition offered for Sale. The Exhibition building was put up for sale by auction yesterday, and £3,600 was offered for it in a lump, which was refused. The reserve is understood to be £4OOO. It was then put up bay by bay, under which process it promises to realise considerably less than £3,600. Everything has been sold except the main transept. including the entrance hall, art gallery, and concert room. Purchasers are still unwilling to bid for this in a lump, being dubious as to quantities in it, and it will be put up today. Illegal Voting.

A tnan named James Winnishaw was fined 10s for voting at the Stanmore election when he resided out of the district. Asher Wren, formerly canvassing clerk to the New Zealand Accident Company, has been arrested at Ohaupo, Waikato, on a charge of alleged embezzlement of the funds of the Company. His Worship said that this was one of those oases in which there were so many contradictions, and matters requiring further investigation, that he felt bound to send the case to a higher Court. Prisoner through his counsel reserved his defence, and was then fully committed to stand his trial at the next sessions of the Supreme Court at Dunedin. WELLINGTON. A subscription has been raised here to augment the Mansion House Fund and to relieve the persecuted Jews of Russia, and now amounts to over £455. This is in addition to upwards of £450, collected here for the same object last year,
