Hob abt, July 20. The Hon. William Giblin, Colonial Treasurer, made his Financial Statement in the House of Assembly, to. day. He estimated the revenue for the ensuing year at £516,000, and the expenditure at £482,500. The surplus thus shown will be applied to the reduction of duty on tea by 2d per lb., and on sugar by 40s per ton; the removal of duties on cattle, etc., and relief of the Property Tax. The total proposed remission amounts to £45,234. The Treasurer announced that the Government intended to borrow £350,000 for public works. Sydney, July 20. The Municipal Council has been asked, but has declined, to take part in the demonstration which is being organised to welcome Sir Henry Parkes on his return from Europe. Sailed : This day, steamship Ringarooma, for Auckland.
Melboubne, July 21. The men who were recently arrested in connection with tho Ariuski jewellery robbery, have been committed for trial.
