First Party Division came off last night. Weston (Dunedin) P, Green and Petrie have left the Govern ment.
Five of the Opposition side voted with the Government, not knowing it was a party question. Mr DeLautour has been appointed to move a vote of Want of Confidence and it sure to carry a majority. July 21. In the House on Wednesday night, as Grey's Constitution Act Amendment liill was coming on, Rollestoq moved that it be read that day six months. After some discussion, Turnbull moved the adjournment of the debate, but the Ministers refused to agree, saying they would allow no business to proceed till this matter was settled. They would stake their existence on it. After discussion the motion for adjournment was negatived by 44 to 40, and the Bill was thrown out. Tho following was the division ; —

On the House resuming yesterday, the provision formerly inserted by Mr Ivess on the Protection Telegrams Bill was, after a long discussion, struck out, and ordered to be reported in the original form. The Coroners Act Amendment Bill passed in Committee with an amendment providing for the payment of coroners, and juries at the rate of 7s per day. Friday. The House met at 2.30 p.m. In reply to questions the Ministers stated that too Bill dealing with Reparian Rights was being prepared, and would be introduced when the Land Bill was disposed of. The debate on the Land Bill was resumed by Bracken, who strongly supported the leasing principle, Fish considered that the Bill was only introduced as a piece of claptrap, and was only done for popularity. He defended the deferred payment system, and strongly opposed the leasing proposals. Fitzgerald supported the Bill as a wise and progressive measure, and he severely criticised Hall’s conduct in reference to it.
Holmes supported the Bill as it was no party question. Adjourned for dinner at 5.80.
