BRIDESMAIDS.

The custom is, it is stated, becoming general in America to hare no bridesmaids at weddings. This was the case a recent fashionable wedding, described in the New York papers, but we are told that “ a pretty feature of the wedding was a double gate in the middle aisle, which was guarded by two little girls in white dresses and Gainsborough hats. The gate was of Wickerwork covered with laurel, and ornamented on the top with longiborum lilies. The initials ‘ S.' and 1 P.’ of the bride and bridegroom in white flowers [ornamented the centre of the gate, and were surrounded by a Wreath of red camelias, A reception for relatives only followed the ceremony.’’ At another wedding in the Same city where there were no bridesmaids, four little girls in pink costumes and carrying bouquets of rod roses, formed part of the bridal procession. A novelty in the travelling dress of another bride was that it was made of Csarl-grey cashmere and chamois other embroidered in steel.
