Txa quarterly Customs returns for the quarter show a marked increase when compared with those of the corresponding quarter of 1881. The returns for the quarter ending 80th June of the present year, show that £2,725 Is lid stands as against £1.959 14s 2d. To the former has to be added Shipping and Seamans Act fees, £5 12s ; Merchants* Shipping Act, 6s | Pilotage, £l3 7s lid j Beer Duty (stamps), £lB7 10s ; Auctioneers’ Licenses, £3O. making the revenue for the quarter, 6e XOd.
