Sir. —Will you be good enough to tell me whether two entire horses named “ Riddles* worth ” appear in the Stud Book, and whether both, or either of them, came to New Zealand ? And what are their respective pedigrees and whether a Riddlesworth ever won the Two Thousand Guineas? —Yours, &c., Breeder. [Riddlesworth—Brown colt, bred by Mr Thonhill in 1837, By Emilius out of Bee in Bonnett, by Black lock out of Maniac, by Shuttle out of Anticipation by Beningborough, Expectation by Herod — Skiiu — Bartletts Childers—Counsellor—Snake. Emilius by Orville, Emily by Stamford, her dam by Whiskey, Grey Dorimant by Dorimant, Dizzy by Blank, Dizzy by Driver, Smiling Tom—Oysterfoot—Merlin—Commoner— Coppin Mare. Orville by Beningborough, Eveline by Highflyer, Termagant by Tantrum, Regulus— Marskes Dam. Beningborough by King Fergus out of a Herod mare, dam by M&tch’em. Imported to Wellington, New Zealand (by the Hon. Mr Petre), about 1843, where he served until 1857, w-.en he was sent to Nelson, where he died in 1861. Another horse appears in the Stud Book as “ Riddlesworth.” a chestnut colt also by Emilias, foaled in 1828, was winner of 2000 guineas in 1831 ; was afterwards sold for German wtud purposes, was afterwards brought back from Germany and exported, to America. — Ed. p. b. s-i NAPIER JOCKEY CLUE STEEPLECHASE MEETING.
