Gisborne Licensing Court.
Present : Messrs. E. K. Brown (in the chair), 8. Stevenson, W. Clarke, M. J. Gannon, and 11. Lewis. The following report from the police was handed to the Committee fortheir consideration :— Samuel M. Wilson, Albion Club Hotel: Good repair, well furnished, very clean, and well kept. Objections, nil. Daniel Page, Masonic Hotel: Good repair, well furnished, clean, and well kept. Objections, nil. Alexander Allanach, Gisborne Hotel: Good repair, fairly furnished, and very clean. Objections, nil. Susan De Costa, Turanganni Hotel: Good repair, f airiy f urnished, and ho use very clean. Objections, nil. Edward Patrick Joyce, British Empire Hotel: Good repair, fairly fur-
nished, and very clean. Objections, nil. Bobert Wilson, Royal Hotel: Fair repair, fairly furnished, and very clean. Objections, nil. Henry Cannon is also an applicant for the Royal Hotel. His character was good, and there were no objections. Frederick E. Murray, the Settlers’ Hotel : Good repair, fairly furnished, aud very elean. Objections, mj'Z. Thomas J. Dickson, Argyll Hotel: The plans have been prepared, and tenders accepted, for the erection of a new hotel for Mr Dickson. There were no objections to the issue of the license as at present. The following renewals were then granted : —Susan DeCosta, Turanganui Hotel ; D. Page, Masonic Hotel; S. M, Wilson, Albion Club Hotel ; Alex. Allanach, Gisborne Hotel ; E. P. Joyce, British Empire Hotel ; R. Wilson, Royal Hotel ; T. J. Dickson, Argyll Hotel ; F. Murray, Settler’s Hotel. Mr H. Cannon’s application was, by the request of Mr Brassey, withdrawn. A wholesale license was granted to Mr A. Graham.
