EXTRAORDINARY CONDUCT OF A LIFEBOAT CREW.
In closing the inquest on the bodies of the two men drowned by the foundering of the Helea (smack), at Lland--dulaa, the coroner (Dr Pierce) comnented most strongly on the conduct of the crew of the lifeboat. The smack, he pointed -out, stranded in broad •dayii girt within 50 yards from the shore, and within half a mile of the life boat station. Thirteen men composed the crew of the lifeboat, and and had been guilty of unmanly unworthy, careless, and cowardly beheavour, the drowned men having clung to the rigging for two hours, without any attempt at rescue from the £bone. The lifeboat crew were nothing better than fairweather sailors, and he regretted he had not the power to commit all of them for manslaughter for they had done nothing to try and save those unfortunate men. The conduct of the lifeboat crew is most ad ver 3ely commented upon, and it is understood that a representation will be made to the committee of the -National Lifeboat institution.
