DEPARTURES. 16th May.—Arawata, 8.3.. for Auckland and Sydney. Passengere:—Miss Bidlake, Messrs Way, Murphy, Thompson, Harries, Clarke. The schooner Endewvaur will leave for Wellington to-dty. The Union Company’s steamship Albion will not arfire in Gisborne until Saturday afternoon ner% the 20th inst. The Oriental Pacific Steam Navigation Co., hare declared a dividend of 5 per cent, per annum. The Union Company's Southern Cross is expected to arrive this morning early, from southern ports, and wiil take her departure shortly after arrival, fur Tauranga and Auckland. The last beat leaves the wharf at 8 a.m. .The s.s. Oreti left Auckland last night for Gisborne, and is notified to leave for Napier and Wellington to-morrow (Wednesday) afternoon. The last boat leaves the wharf at 4 o'clock. The schooner Gisborne, Captain J. Skinner, left Auckland on the 9th May, for Gisborne, with 60 sacks malt, 2000 feet timber, 20 tuna coal, 100 }>ackages groceries and sundry merchandise. She ought to put iu an appearance in the course of a few davs. The Uni<m Company’s Arawata, Captain Sinclair, anchored in the Bay early on Sunday morning last, from Melbourne via southern ports, with 30 tons cargo. She proceeded North to Auckland during the morning, with the following cargo : —lOO sacks wheat, 4 kegs butter, 4 casks, 1 case honey, and 5 pkgs. The first prize of the International Shipwright Exhibition now being held has been awarded to the Orient Company’s new steamer Austral. The London 7’,mf«of sth May, in a leading article on the Exhibition refers to the decision of the judges, and concludes as fellows : —“ Whether we look upon the Austral as a triumph of s ze, luxury, and speed, or in the last resort as a ship of war, she is in every way the ship of the age.”
