SPORTING.
(from exchanges.) The Auckland Stud Company have leased Anteros to Mr Allan McLean, of Napier, for a period of three years. The Company have also purchased Javelin right out from that gentleman. Mr P. Butler has scratched his horse, The Agent, for all engagements in connection with the Grand National Steeplechase Meeting. The old horse has had a dickey leg for some time past, and has undergone a course of blistering. His owner, when entering him for the Grand National, had but poor hopes of his seeing the post, and on his returning from Timaru, Mr Butler asked the horse a mild question, which was answered in so unsatisfactory a manner, that he determined to put the pen through him at once and save his friends.
