A TERRIBLE TRAGEDY.

The Agratn Gazette (Austria) gives prominence to an account of a domestic tragedy which recently took place at Carlstadt. In that town there is a celebrated military school, the chief master of which up to a few days ago Major Thalheim. When the stu den a had assembled in his college some ten days ago, they were surprised at the non-appearance of their professor, who was always punctual. After waiting nearly an hour for the Major, two of the senior cadets went to his residence. Madame Thalheim was not in the town, and the house was still closed. They rapped at the door and rang the bell, but on receiving no answer, thev broke open the window and entered the house. There, a terrible spectacle met their gaze. The two sons of the Major were lying dead on the break-fast-room floor. The Major was hanging by the neck from a ring in the ceiling. The servant was found in the passage to all appearance dead. On the table lay a bottle containing morphia. An alarm was soon given, and a doctor came to attend the girl, who was brought round. She said the Major spoke about a delightful drink he had purchased, and which he wanted them ail to taste. On their expressing a wish to try it, he gave each of them a wine-glassful. She must have taken a very little. The Major evidently hanged himself immediately after seeing the result of the poison.
