A Pony Race. A match lias been arranged to take place on Saturday next, at 4.30 p.m., on the VVaeren-ga-a-hika racecourse, between two ponies, belonging respectively to Mr James Carroll, and Mr Te Kani Pere, £lO aside. Great interest is taken as to the result. Queen's Birthday Race Meeting. Thr following weights were declared on Wednesday morning last, by the handicapper, Mr P. Breingan, for the above clubs meeting, to take place at Waerenga-a-hika, on the 24th of May, 1882

(from exchanges.) During the race in the A.J.C. Plate at Sydney, Secundus fell and broke his leg, bringing down Royal Maid, ridden by the wellknown jockey St. Albans, who is most severely injured. Herald says :—By the Rotorua, which arrived from Sydney Mr Allan M'Lean who has been on a visit to New South Wales, brought over with him five very highly bred yearlings, which, considering that the passage from Sydney to Auckland was anything but a fine weather one, were landed, with one exception, in grand condition. Cox, by Yattendon—Nathalie (winner of the Australian Cup), by Warlock (winner of the English St. Leger, Great Ebor Handicap at York, and Great Yorkshire Handicap at Doncaster), out of Rose de Florence (dam of Maribyrnong and King of the Ring), by the Flying Dutchman, &c., &c. A brown filly, bred by Messrs G. and E. Suttor by Gemma di Vergy—lndiana, by Angler out of Nathalie. A brown filly, bred by Mr Andrew Town, by Maribyrnong—Miss Walton, by Ace of Clubs (imported), out of Fisherman’s daughter, by Fisherman, &e. Epicure, a bay colt, by Yattendon out of GLiva (dam of Wanderer and Colima), by Velocity (imported), out of Atlantic (dam of Viva, and grand dam of Reprieve Burwood, Queen’s Head, Pardon, Respite, and Freemason), by Reprieve (imported), &<•. A bay filly bred by Mr Lee, by Kingsborough —Etiquette (imported), by Caractacus, winner of the English Derby, Ac. It will be seen from the above list of pedigrees that a more fashionable bred lot has never been imported here, and the majority of them are as good looking as they are bred. They were taken on being landed to Mr Palmer’s stables, where they remained all day and attracted considerable attention. We understand that some of them are for sale.
