Messrs. Johh Shaw 4 Sons, of 37 Mark Lane, Dondon, E.C., report through their agent, Mr Leonard W. Blake, of Christchurch, that the market during the month ending 10th March, was brisk, a steady consumptive demand having sat in for all the leading varieties of farm seeds. Of American red, the arrivals had somewhat increased : nevertheless, full prices were being obtained. English red was ehewing a wide disparity of value, ranging from Si’s to 180 s per cwt. Stocks in general being unprecedentedly low, prices tended upwards all round; and alsyke, white and trefoil, were quoted dearer, and more money was asked for lucerne. Rte grasses were in good demand at late rates. Spring tares on the spot were almost unobtainable in consequence of which there was an unusually good enquiry fur winter retches.
