London, April 26. The Two Thousand Guinea race wad run at Newmarket to-day : —Shotover, 1; Quicklime, 2 ; Marsden, 3. The Home Secretary has had under his consideration further affidavits forwarded bj President Arthur in support of the insanity of Dr Lawson, the Wimbledon murderer. After a full enquiry Sir William Vernon Harcourt decided that appeals made on behalf of the prisoner cannot be entertained, and it has been definitely decided that sentence of death shall be carried out on Friday, the 28th. A large number of Hoyal and other distinguished personages have arrived at Windsor Castle as guests of Her Majesty on the occasion of the marriage of Prince Leopold, the festivities in connection with which have commenced. The Order of the Garter was to-day conferred Upon the King of Holland by the Queen at Windsor Castle.
