Auckland, April 26. At the Supreme Court to-dav an application was made in connection with the pending divorce suit, Chas. Evans v Annie Evans v M. C. Mirfin, in which the petitioner prays for a dissolution of marriage on grounds of adultery and desertion, and £lOO damages from co-respondent Mirfin, who is ,an Inspector in the Public Works Department, and who is alleged to be cohabiting here with respondent. Petitioner resides at Nelson. Co-respondent was ordered to give the nanwof the domestic servant, with whom it wac alleged the petitioner has committed adul tery. The Australia sailed yesterday for San Francisco with over 200 passengers, and other passages were refused. Among the passengers are Dr Messeng, Jewish Rabbi, and Mr Pash, travelling representative of Essex Chamber of Agriculture. Lyttelton, April 26. The Hinemoa with the Hon. John Hall and family, the Hon. W. Ito'leston, Te Whiti and Tohu arrived from Wellington at 1.30. Te Whiti and Tohu landed anti were taken through to Addington by special train. The wharf was crowded to see the prisoners land. Dunedin, April 26. The Union Company’s new steamer the Manapouri left Lisbon for Melbourne direct on the 17th inst. The Mahinapua sailed from Clyde for Port Chalmers on the 22nd inst., and the Omapere was launched at Dumbarton on the 20th inst. Hawera, April 26. After the Doctor’s evidence was given at the inquest on a Native at Manutalii, Gallagher, publican, was committed for trial today for manslaughter, the jury having found that the Maori died from the effects of a blow inflicted by Gallagher under provocation. Gallagher was arrested, but received bail on giving £lOOO security.
