When lawyers fail to take a fee, And juries never disagree ; When politicians are content, And landlords don’t col ect their rent : When Boston fo ks give up t eir beans ; When parties smash all the nine'lines; When naughty c. ildren all die young, And girls are horn without a tongue ; When ladies don’t take time to hop ; And office-holdem never flop ; When preachers cut their sermons short, And all the folks to church resort ; When back subscribers all have paid, And editors hare fortunes made 4 Such happenings will sure portend This world must soon come to an end, —Yonkers Gazette.
