PORT OF POVERTY BAY. On account 01 the inclemency of the wea*ther the -s.s. Resina, did not sail For the Coast ■tin Tuesday evening last, as notified. The Union Steamship Company’s Rotoinaliana, Capt. Underwood, will leave Auckland •for Gisborne to-morrow, and will steam for Melbourne via Southern Ports, on Saturday •evening. The ss. Oreti, Capt. Campbell, arrived in port early on Tuesday morning last, from Wellington and Napier, with a full cargo. She sailed again for Tauranga and Auckland on Tuesday afternoon, with a full cargo, consisting of 200 sheep, 100 bags gross seed, and sundries. The Union Steamship Company’s Rotcraa, Captain Tozer, will not put in on appearance here until Monday next, from Melbourne via Southern Ports. She will take her departure for Auckland and Russell early the same xnorning, the last boat leaving the wharf at 7 o’clock. LOSS OF THE BARQUE ROMEO. WE learn by cablegram from Melbourne that the barque reported to be ashore near Kam’n Head is the Romeo, from Hamburg for Sydney. All hands are saved, nineteen in all, including the Captain’s wife and family, and they have arrived at Gabo. The Captain reports that, he mistook the land for a fogbank, and that the vessel rapidly filling the crew took to the boats at 4.30 a.m. on the 14th inst., and the Captain steered for Gabo, but the men becoming exhausted they landed on the beach near Bastion Point, and after sleeping in the bush all night, reached Gabo at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The Government steamer Dispatch left Melbourne for the scene of the wreck, which is t ree miles West of Ram’s Head. The Romeo is fan iron barque of 641 tons register, built and owned at Liverpool, and was on a voyage from Hamburg to Sydney, and consigned to the agency of Messrs John Fraser and Co. She left Hamburg on the 26th October, and had a fair passage nntil the coast of Australia was reached, when, owing to the thick weather which prevailed, the vessel went ashore at the point indicated.—Auckland Stor.
